How We Can Assist Your Colony
Forgotten Cats is a full service, large scale TNVR organization. Our protocol involves trapping ALL cats residing in a specific colony in order to effectively stabilize that colony. For many colony caregivers, the thought of TNVR seems overwhelming. We work with caregivers to provide all levels of assistance to ensure the cats are TNVR’d safely and expediently. This assistance includes:
TRAPPING: Forgotten Cats will provide equipment, training, transportation, and moral support to you as needed. We will work with the colony caregiver to assist with monitoring the traps on an ongoing basis. As the cats are caught, they will be transported to our clinic to be cared for until all of the cats are caught. Because of this dedicated and consistent trapping effort, Forgotten Cats is able to help colony caregivers spay or neuter entire colonies within a short period of time thus preventing thousands of kittens from being born.
MEDICAL CARE: Cats will receive surgery, pain medication, rabies and FVRCP(distemper) vaccines, ear tip, flea & tick preventative, and dewormer. Cats are provided medical care at one of our three low-cost spay/neuter clinics.
RECUPERATION: If the colony caregiver does not have the space or experience to care for feral cats, Forgotten Cats can care for the cats in our facility after surgery until they are ready to be released.
RELEASE: Once the cats have recuperated from surgery, Forgotten Cats will transport the feral cats back to the trapping location to be released and cared for by their caregiver. ***Dependent upon shelter space & caregiver permission: Forgotten Cats may hold and place kittens and friendly cats for adoption.
CAREGIVER SUPPORT: Forgotten Cats provides training to you as to the proper management of your colony. This includes feeding portions, feeding stations, and winter stations. We can help you obtain feral cat houses.
