Forgotten Cats is an almost all-volunteer organization! Without our dedicated volunteers we would not be able to accomplish our mission. We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities at our various locations. Check them out below!
Volunteers Requirements
Volunteers must be 18 years old to volunteer independently at our shelters/clinics/adoption centers. Volunteers aged 15-17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at our shelters/clinics. And volunteers aged 13-17 can volunteer at our adoption centers when accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Adoption Center Volunteers
Volunteer at one of our adoption centers to help our adoptable cats find their forever homes. You will be responsible for feeding the cats, making sure they have a clean living environment, playing & snuggling, and interacting with potential adopters. Time commitment: 2 hours per week.
Clinic Volunteers
Willow Grove & Trainer, PA & Sussex Co., DE.
Volunteer in one of our three spay/neuter clinics to assist in the medical care of our many feral/stray/pet cats. Clinic volunteers can help with intake, surgery prep, recovery, vet tech, and instruments. On the job training is provided. Time commitment is one day per week from ~9:30am-6pm. Shelter Volunteers
Willow Grove & Trainer, PA & Sussex Co., DE.
Volunteer in one of our three shelters to care for our cats while they anxiously await adoption or release back to their colony. Our shelter volunteers are responsible for basic feed and clean of the cats in our care. Of course, you can squeeze in some cuddle and play time with our adoptable kitties. Shelter volunteers are also encouraged to assist with laundry, dishes, and cage/carrier sanitization whenever possible. Time commitment is one day per week for 2-3 hours, preferably before 1pm.
Trapping
Do you want to be the one to physically rescue the homeless cats from the street? Then volunteer to assist with the trapping of feral & stray cats. Our trappers are responsible for transporting traps and cats to and from trapping location & our clinics, monitoring traps, cleaning traps, and working with colony caregivers to ensure ALL cats in a colony are trapped. (a vehicle will be provided if needed).
Administration Volunteers
Are you not able to physically volunteer with the cats but still want to help? Then consider helping out our administration team. We have a variety of at home opportunities such as: adoption processing, data entry, phone receptionists, graphic design, fundraising, and more.
Data Entry Volunteer
Duties include manually entering data into our computer system that will then be used by other volunteers to process adoption applications.
Time commitment is 1-3 hours per day and fluctuates based on time of year and scheduled adoption events. This job is 100% remote, with no set hours, but you would need to commit to one or more days per week (such as every Thursday or Sunday).
To qualify for this position, you must have a computer and internet connection, be comfortable using email & web browsers, and be able to commit to one or more days per week to assist with data entry.
Training would take place over Zoom.
Online Clinic Scheduler
Work from home position.
A clinic scheduler communicates with potential clients via email, answers their questions, and schedules them for a clinic appointment.
Duties include responding daily to email messages from people inquiring about our clinic services, addressing concerns, answering their questions, and scheduling them for a clinic appointment.
Occasionally, a clinic appointment request will turn into a need for TNVR assistance. In that case, you would explain the process of TNVR and add them to our waiting list. If the inquirer needs a type of assistance we cannot provide, direct them to another group or agency that can assist them.
Time commitment is about 4 hour per day, but it can fluctuate from time to time. This job is 100% remote, with no set hours, but it is best to dedicate an hour or two in the early morning and then the remaining time here and there throughout the day.
To qualify for this position, you must have a computer and internet access, be comfortable using email, web browsers, and a text editor like Word or Google Docs, and be able to remain calm and courteous when stressful situations arise.
TNVR Scheduler
Work from home position.
A TNVR scheduler communicates with potential clients, answers their questions, and schedules them for trapping assistance.
Duties include responding daily to email messages from people inquiring about our TNVR services, addressing concerns, answering their questions, and scheduling them for TNVR.
Occasionally, a TNVR request will turn into a need for an appointment at one of our clinics. In that case, you would send them the appropriate information regarding a clinic appointment and schedule them.
If the inquirer needs a type of assistance we cannot provide, direct them to another group or agency that can assist them.
Time commitment is about 1 hour per day, but it can fluctuate from time to time. This job is 100% remote, with no set hours.

Maintenance & Repair Person
Trainer Clinic (near Claymont, DE)
Maintenance & Repair Volunteer needed to help us at our clinic in Trainer, PA to perform routine maintenance around the building such as:
- Fixing structural damage – for example, window, door, or wall repair.
- Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
- Painting, applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems.
- Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
Cat Cuddler
Trainer, PA (near Claymont, DE)
Enrich the lives of the cats in the free-roaming cat room by spending 1-2 hours per week in the afternoon or evening with the cats by socializing with them through playing, petting, brushing, reading to them, and cuddling.
Must be 18 or older. If under 18 (no younger than 12), you must be accompanied by an adult. Since the cat room is on the 2nd floor, you must be able to climb one flight of stairs.
